Having social media channels for your business is important, it helps customers find you and lets you interact with them. And today consumers research and find brands to a large extent on social media.


You don't have to be on both Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Linkedin, X and Pinterest. Rather focus on 1 or 2 that suits you, and put in your efforts there. Let's explore how you can reach as many people as possible on social media - based on the fact that it is a search engine.

Social SEO (search engine optimization) is about identifying keywords for your business and starting to put them in everything you write on your social channels. Your keywords can be connected to your industry, your services our your company. These keywords helps people find you through text, when browsing on social media. What happens when you start working with keywords is that people find you when they're actively looking for your service, rather than aimlessly scrolling their feed. It also helps more people find you, thereby growing your reach.


You might know Google SEO. But did you know that Google is no longer the no.1 search engine for everyone? For Generation Z (born between 1997-2012) social media is. Also 44% of internet users aged 16 to 64 use social media as a primary source of information when researching brands. So even if your target audience isn't youngsters, you would want to work to get noticed.

Have your keywords for your website? Apply them on social media to. Or else identify your keywords and put them in your captions & hashtags. This helps you appear when people are searching in the search field. You can also use subtitles and put your keywords on screen in for example Instagram reels, that helps the algorithms.

Tag your location! For the social channels that allows it. Do it in both posts, stories, reels or whatever you're publicing. Then you will appear when people are searching for local businesses or are browsing for your product in the area.

Using keywords in your name and bio (include location if relevant) helps you appear in searches too. Think about what your top keywords are and put them in all of your social media profiles.
